Gold: last hit, deny, dan jamGold: last hits, denies, and the clock
A creep you did not last hit is gold the other team's carry is allowed to have.
Satu punya 85 last hit, yang lain 25. Siapa unggul, dan kenapa?
Jawaban: Yang 85: gold creep adalah bagian terbesar pemasukan carry — Selisih enam puluh last hit kira-kira dua ribu gold: satu item utuh, dibeli tanpa satu pun kill.
Where gold actually comes from
Most of a carry's gold is not from kills. It is the steady line of creeps killed on purpose, one last hit at a time, plus the passive gold everyone gets. Ten creeps per minute for ten minutes is worth more than two lucky kills.
This is why "I have kills" and "I have items" are different sentences.
Two carries each have 3 kills at minute 12. One has 85 last hits, the other 25. Who is ahead, and why?
Answer: The one with 85: creep gold is the bulk of a carry's income — Sixty extra last hits is roughly two thousand gold: an entire item, bought without a single kill.
Denying is defence
A deny kills your own creep so the enemy gets neither the gold nor the experience. It does not feel like much in the moment, and over ten minutes it is the difference of a level and a half for the enemy core.
Denying is the cheapest thing a lane partner can do that actually hurts the other team.
Why does a deny matter even though you gain no gold from it?
Answer: It takes both gold and experience away from the enemy — Dota is zero-sum in lane: what the enemy does not get is worth as much as what you do get.
Spending gold is a decision, not a habit
Gold in your pocket does nothing. An item bought at minute 12 changes the next five minutes; the same item at minute 25 often arrives after the fight it was for.
That is why "farming" alone is not a plan: the point of farm is to be spent at a time that matters.
You have 2,100 gold and are 300 short of a core item. What is usually right?
Answer: Keep the gold and take one more camp or wave to finish the item — A small delay to finish a real item usually beats a fast purchase that delays the item by another four minutes.
